λondon HUG
London Haskell User Group
August 2007 Meeting
August 14, 2007 on 11:33 am | By david | In |For those of you not subscribed to the mailing list: The next meeting is coming up. It will be a pub meet, and will happen next Wednesday (the 22nd). We’ll start at about 6:30, but people will most likely be turning up over most of the evening, so it doesn’t matter too much if you can’t make it there for then.
We haven’t entirely determined a location yet, but it’s looking increasingly likely that we’ll default to the slaughtered lamb again.
Update: Owing to a total lack of alternative suggestions, looks like we’re in the slaughtered lamb again! I’ll bring a sign saying “London HUG” so people can recognise us, but prior experience suggests it’s not hard to spot a large crowd of functional programmers. ![]()

I intend to finally make one of these! Is it still going ahead, and if so how should I recognise a group of Haskellers in a pub? I don’t want to rely on lazy (arf) stereotypes of bearded long haired blokes. Though I do have both. Doh.

Hi Andrew,
I don’t think too many of us are bearded and long haired actually. Previous events suggest that we’re (mostly) positively respectable.
As per the update I’ve just made, I’ll try to remember to bring a sign (by which I mean “A4 sheet of paper which will inevitably get lost among the people it’s supposed to announce”) so people can spot us. Failing that, try just shouting “Anyone here for a HUG?” and see what reaction you get.
If all else fails, just look around for large groups of people talking about Haskell I guess.
David
